Helsinki, Finland – Geyser Batteries has completed a comprehensive sustainability review for its investors and board members. The document is used for self-assessment and to set guidelines for future work.

Sustainability is one of the key driving forces embedded in the strategy and operations at Geyser Batteries. The aim of the first formalized sustainability review done as a part of the  ongoing ESG work was to evaluate the current state of sustainability in the company, the risks and gaps related to environmental, social and governance aspects, as well as to present the impact the company aims at creating with its operations and technology. The framework of the review is inspired by the upcoming sustainability reporting legislation in the European Union, which focuses on ESG+ topics, as well as current practices of reporting on sustainability.

The sustainability report focuses on the key material topics and provides an overview of the company's achievements, as well as points of improvement and plans for the next year. The key focus topics for Geyser Batteries and its stakeholders are: GHG emissions avoidance potential and own carbon footprint, waste and circularity, human capital and product liability, and social and environmental sustainability of the supply chain. The goals set out for this year are mostly related to internal policies on environmental and social topics, development of the code of conduct and further work towards quantifying the company's impact in terms of climate change. The review also highlights the twelve key targets within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where Geyser Batteries aims at creating an impact. These targets are within six goals: climate change, affordable and clean energy, gender equality, innovation, decent work and economic growth, and responsible consumption and production.

“When we established Geyser Batteries, we wanted to commercialize the battery innovation which is both safe and sustainable, so it is in our company’s mission to enable sustainable electrification accessible for people from all over the world. Through continuous innovation we want to lead the transition to circular economy. Therefore, the topics of ESG and sustainability are becoming increasingly important for us. In 2020 we recruited an ESG manager, and this year we are formalizing the ESG strategy with clear KPIs and monitoring process. Based on that, we will be executing yearly sustainability reviews and updating our stakeholders on the progress”, says Andrey Shigaev, CEO of Geyser Batteries.
